Hello Friendly Business Owner,
I have some words of wisdom to offer you if you currently or plan to use telemarketing... DON'T... until you heed the advice below. Seriously, I would like to give you some honest, wholesome, and great advice.
A few years ago after diligently researching both state and federal statutory and administrative/regulatory laws governing voice broadcasting, aka, telemarketing and/or autodialing, I discovered a valuable website ( http://www.copilevitz-canter.com/ ) from the law firm of Copilevitz and Canter.
From their website: "Copilevitz & Canter, L.L.C., a nationally recognized law firm, represents nonprofit organizations, professional fundraisers, and commercial telemarketers in the areas of nonprofit registration, regulation, charitable solicitation, commercial telemarketing, and fundraising."
They offer monthly reports and newsletters, informative articles, and plenty of free information to get you and your company up-to-speed on compliance matters. One of their best resources is a compliance chart. It is very thorough with virtually every state and federal law that currently regulates the telemarketing industry. It is a free resource so check it out.
As you can appreciate, legal and political issues control telemarketing to such a large extent that without a correct understanding of how to comply, one may feel completely lost. I constantly keep my "finger on the pulse" of telemarketing law and spend considerable time studying telemarketing legal and political issues so that I have keep my confidence and peace of mind. As my momma always says, "It's always best to be forewarned and well-prepared, and that's half the battle little Jimmy."
Anyway, I trust that this information helps.
Very respectfully,
James Crowson, MPA
